KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, FEB 21: Following a technical snag, the functioning of the cable car was disrupted for more than half hour in Gulmarg on February 19.
Reports said at around 4.30 PM the cable car developed a technical snag due to an electric short circuit.
A number of sports and media person present in Gulmarg in connection with the 5th winter national games were held up in the cable cars.
It took more than half an hour for the authorities to remove the fault and make the cable car functional.
The stranded players and media persons heaved a sigh of relief and reached their respective destinations.
Police rescue school girl from kidnappers clutches KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, FEB 21: Police claimed to have foiled a bid by two youth to kidnap an eight standard student in an auto rickshaw at Hyderpora Crossing.
Giving details to media persons at police station Sadder, Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Shiv Murari Sahai said that a minor girl who was returning from tuitions was forcibly lifted by two persons in an auto rickshaw from Hyderpora crossing yesterday.
The two youth- Shakeel Ahmad Khan and Fayaz Ahmad Bhat both residents of Humhama- Budgam alongwith auto driver tried to take the girl towards Rawalpora.
However the girl raised an alarm and attracted the attention of people and police.
Incharge police naka party at Hyderpora crossing in assistance with police flying squad intercepted the auto rickshaw and recovered the kidnapped girl.
Shakeel was arrested, the other accused and auto driver fled from the spot in the auto, IG added.
The kidnapped girl was handed over to her parents.
Later on Fayaz was also nabbed he demanded.
Sahai stated that efforts are on to nab the driver of the vehicle.
IGP said police has posted 25 flying squads at different places in Srinagar city which operate under command and control of police control room Srinagar.
He added that in case of any emergency or witnessing of crime, anyone can dial 100 on which PCR will immediately dispatch the nearest flying squad for assistance of the caller.
He urged the people to avail this facility extended by police at any time, be it the day or night.
About the drive against the "road Romeos" initiated by police, he said cops are doing their work but parents and society on whole should also see to it that their children do not go on wrong path.
