NEW DELHI, Feb 15 (UNI): Police have found no leads in S A R Geelani's description of the man he said had attacked him last week.
Geelani, freed after being sentenced to death over the Parliament attack, told police yesterday that the man, who had shot him, wore trimmed hair and beard, was in his mid-twenties, of medium height and wheatish complexion.
"We have no leads yet," DCP (Crime) Tejinder Luthra told UNI.
Police also requested the Supreme Court to give them some more time for filing their report on the near-fatal attack on the Delhi University professor, saying there had been no substantial progress in the investigations.
Police counsel Gopal Subramanium told the court that the victim's statement was recorded only yesterday and that the Delhi Police would be able to file their report only by next week.
Geelani was allegedly shot outside the home of one of his lawyers last Tuesday.
He later accused the police of possible involvement.
The Supreme court has expressed dismay and concern over the attack on Geelani whose acquittal in the Parliament attack case has been challenged by the Delhi Police.
