KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Mar 2 : The Director General of Police, Gopal Sharma presented President's Medals to the two Civil Defence Wardens of Jammu and Kashmir Civil Defence Organisation at an impressive function held here today.
The awardees are Chief Warden Jugal Mahajan and Deputy Chief Warden Paramjeet Kumar.
Mahajan is associated with the Civil Defence Organisation since 1965 while Kumar is in the organization for the last 14 years.
It is for the first time that the Civil Defence Wardens of Jammu and Kashmir have been awarded with President's Medals for their meritorious services.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director General of Police, who is also the Commandant General of J&K Civil Defence Organization, threw light on the importance of the organization and its role in providing much needed help to the needy in the emergent situations.
He said that the civil defence wardens are doing a commendable service to the people across the state, adding that the awarding of President's medal to two of its outstanding senior wardens would be a turning point in bringing further excellence in its functioning.
He said that the role of the organization has become more important in meeting the present challenges and called upon the organization to associate more and more dedicated persons and NGOs with its activities to extend these to hitherto uncovered and remote areas of the state.
The Director General of Police also presented civil defence mementos to the Financial Commissioner Home, Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Director Fire and Emergency Services.
The SSP, PCR, Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig apprised the Director General of Police about the status of the progress on the renovation work of the complex.
