KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, May 14: Three persons including a minor boy were killed in two separate road mishaps here today.
Police reports said that two passengers died on the spot and six others suffered injuries when a bus met with an accident near Adrash College of Education at Dehra Gandotra near Sarore under the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur this morning.
Reports said that the driver of ill-fated bus bearing registration number JK02L-9795 which was on its way from Jammu to Basholi-Billawar was overtaking and in neck to neck race with another bus when the mishap occurred.
On receiving the information the local police rushed on the spot and started rescue operation.
All the occupants of the bus were evacuated and rushed to hospital where two persons were declared as brought dead.After completing the all legal formalities the bodies were handed over to their legal heirs for last rites.
They have been identified as Subash Gupta, son of Nand Lal Gupta of Smailpur and Baba Sanger Singh, son of Baba Mangal Singh of Therath Basti Bari-Brahmna.
The injured who were shifted to GMC Jammu for specialized treatment have been identified as Shuvdeep Sharma, son of Raj Kumar Sharma of Trikuta Nagar, Veena Kumari, wife of Om Parkash of Bishnah, Anita Sambyal, wife Rajinder Singh Slathia of Gurha Slathia, Shamsher Singh, son of Prem Singh of Pakhian, Daljit Singh, son of Khan Singh of Hiranagar Kotli and Nisha, wife of Vishal of Bari-Brahmana.
In another road mishap a minor child was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle at Malpur under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kanachak.
The deceased has been identified as Smily, son of Ravi Kumar of Malpur Police said that he was hit and injured by a vehicle at Malpur.
The injured was shifted to GMC Jammu where doctors declared him as brought dead.
After completing the legal formalities the body was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Former Xen in vigilance net KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, May 14: State Vigilance Organization (SVO) has registered a corruption case against former Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Division, Kathua and the owner of Hindustan Paints, Court Road Udhampur for the purchase and supply of 'Quick Setting Cement Powder' and 'Concrete Hardener' on highly exorbitant rates.
Official reports said that SVO has registered a case under the appropriate provisions of prevention of corruption act in Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu against T R Bhagat, then Executive Engineer, PWD (R&B) Division, Kathua, Hindustan Paints, Court Road Udhampur owned by Vidhu Mangotra of Udhampur for the purchase and supply of Duroseal Integral Water Proofing Compound (Quick Setting Cement Powder) and Floronite Concrete Hardener on highly exorbitant rates of Rs 80 per kg and Rs 44 per kg respectively by hatching a criminal conspiracy causing huge loss to the state exchequer.
Reports further said that the result of joint surprise check coupled with investigation of Case FIR number 21 of 2006 registered in Police Station Vigilance Organization Jammu have prima-facie indicated that the purchases were made at highly exorbitant rates without any competition and without any demand from the subordinate units.
It has been established that the prices of these items were much less viz Rs 15.81 per kg for Quick Setting Cement Power with the Principal supplier at Delhi and Rs 8.10 per kg for Floronite Concrete Hardener with a firm at Srinagar.
