Recall of ambassadors reflects deep concern: US

WASHINGTON, Feb 15 (UNI): The recall of ambassadors by United States, UK, India and France was an "indication of the deep concern in the international community about the recent developments in Nepal," the US State Department has said.

The widely shared view of the international community was that the "King needs to restore and protect civil and human rights; he needs to release those detained under the state of emergency, and move quickly towards the restoration of civil liberties and multiparty democratic institutions," spokesman Richard Boucher told reporters yesterday.

"That is the point we're trying to make.

We will consult with our Ambassador and others will consult with their ambassadors about how best to achieve those goals, how we can support those goals," he said.

"We'll be sending our Ambassador back after a period of time in order to convey that message even more clearly," he added.
