Union minister censures state administration More often than not the coalition government has earned disparagement from its critics for the gigantic gap between its words and action vis-…-vis its functioning on different fronts yet the former dismisses all these assertions as prejudiced statements being made as a part of malicious propaganda launched by some cynic.
Generally the government is accused of making haughty claims and coining hollow slogans.
In fact, this syndrome is not just restricted to the ruling coalition, all the successive state governments, irrespective of their party affiliations, have excelled only in hoodwinking masses with a splurge of deceitful catchphrases.
Religiously following the tradition set by its predecessors, the coalition too has relied upon this tried-n-tested formula to dupe the naive masses by coining the phrases of "double-shift work culture", "drive against corruption" etc.
Had only mouthing platitudes served the purpose, the coalition government would have certainly found itself on the pedestal of glory.
But sadly that does not work on the ground! Work culture cannot be improved by just making rhetoric, for that strong political will is needed to translate words into reality.
And it is this simple fact, which the critics want to bring to the government's attention.
But now none other than the Union Minister for Rural Development Dr Raghuvansh Prasad Singh himself has censured the state administration expressing concern over delay in release of first installment of central assistance to various districts of Jammu & Kashmir under various schemes of rural development due to delay in submission of proposals and other procedural formalities by the concerned district administration.
The Union Minister has sought Chief Minister's intervention to bring the system back on rail by taking an appropriate action "to ensure that necessary formalities are complied with by the concerned districts so that the funds the meant for these districts are released without any further delay." Anantnag, Baramulla, Jammu, Kargil, Leh, Poonch and Pulwama districts could not settle even the conditions set for the release of second installment of the preceding year, hence no release of first installment this year.
Often it is said that the beggars cannot be choosers but strangely in our case, the central government is imploring the state government to avail the benefits of central grants.
After this censuring, although in mild terminology, the critics of the coalition government henceforth will be well within their right to say, "We told you so."
