NEW DELHI, Sep 24 (UNI): The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has sanctioned an additional 60 seats to Kochi-based School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS) for its Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme, making it the largest autonomous business school in the country in terof annual student intake.
"The SCwill now have a total of 270 seats, the highest among all autonomous business schools," SCChairman G P C Nair said here today.
According to SCDirector V Mukunda Das, "some of the top credentials of the Institute, coupled with the high ranking given by business magazines, may have strongly weighed with the authorities for the substantial increase in seats." Its PGDM programme recognised by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to MBA of Universities.
It has ISO certification for quality management teaching system, besides cent per cent placement since 1996.
"AICTE itself had earlier recognised the school as one with an excellent track record in performane and given a substantial grant for augmenting facilities," said Dr Das, a former professor of IIM (Kozhikode) and Institute of Rural Management in Anand (IRMA).
He said the school's campus at Kochi has a centrally-airconditioned 150,000 sq ft built up space.
