SIT denies summoning former CM in fake stamps case

PUNE, Feb 12 (UNI) The Special Investigating Team (SIT) today categorically denied that it had summoned former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh or any other politician for enquiry following revelations in the NARCO analysis test report on prime accused in the fake stamps scam Abdul Karim Telgi.

Neither Deshmukh nor any other political figure has been summoned for enquiry at present, Superintendent of Police and enquiry officer in the case C H Wakade told UNI here today.

Wakade was reacting to the reports put out by some television channels that Deshmukh and former deputy chief minister Chhagan Bhujbal had been summoned by the SIT for enquiry after the NARCO test was made public.

He informed that after the interrogation of Telgi's nephew Tabrej and another accused Vijay Patil whose confessional statements had been recorded, the SIT was now busy in investigating financial aspects of the scam.

Many papers that were earlier seized by the SIT were being re-scanned and accounts were being crosschecked with the information given by Tabrej.

Tabrej was nabbed by SIT recently and interrogated thoroughly by the SIT.

In the NARCO test report presented by the SIT, Telgi has mentioned that Tabrej handled most of his financial accounts.
