Snow skiing championship from Feb 10

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, Feb 7: The sixth state snow skiing championship for the seniors, juniors and sub-juniors for both the boys and girls are going to be held from February 10 to February 14 at Beeta / Khilanmarg / Gulmarg.

According to a press note, the games are being organized by the Winter Games Association of Kashmir and the games would be trials for the forthcoming 4th National Winter games due to start from March 3.

Those players who get selected during the tourney would represent the state in the coming national games.

In addition to the free boarding and lodging, the players would also get a chance to have a gondola ride during their stay at Gulmarg.

The interested advanced skiers have been directed to report at Gulmarg on February 10.

Sunil Sethi is new Bar president KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 7: Advocate Sunil Sethi has been elected as the president of Jammu Bar Association, the elections of which were held here today.

He secured 274 votes out of a total of 609 votes polled.

Sethi defeated his nearest rival advocate D K Khajuria by a margin of 56 votes while advocate Janak Arora who too was in the fray for the post of president of Bar finished third with 117 votes.

For the post of vice president, in a keenly fought contest, advocate P S Chandel defeated advocate Kishore Kumar with a margin of 50 votes.

Other members of the body elected included Ajay Singh Manhas as secretary and Rajneesh Oswal as joint secretary.

However Sunil Kumar got elected unanimously without facing any contest at the stage of filing of nomination papers.

It is pertinent to mention here that the total strength of the Bar is 700 while only 609 members participated in the election process.

Sharma in Delhi KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Feb 7: Deputy chief minister Mangat Ram Sharma today left for New Delhi to apprise the party leadership about persisting differences within the coalition partners besides updating the party high command on internal strife of Congress.

In all probability, the deputy chief minister will be back with the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who is returning to the state tomorrow after performing Haj as the leader of Indian delegation.

Mufti too had a wide range consultations with the Congress leadership on these issues besides finalizing electoral alliance.

It is pertinent to mention here that continued bickering in state unit is affecting the prospects of Congress in the state and which is a cause of concern for Congress leadership too.
