Sonia says party revamp in UP in two days

NEW DELHI, Nov 5 (UNI) Congress President Sonia Gandhi today said she would undertake changes in the party organisation in Uttar Pradesh, including in the leadership, within two days, but ruled out entrusting any responsibility on her son and Amethi MP Rahul or daughter Priyanka.

"I am disappointed with the situation of the party in Uttar Pradesh.

I have been thinking almost day and night what we can do and how we can change the situation.

You will see some changes perhaps tomorrow or the day after," Gandhi said while speaking at the 'Hindustan Leadership Initiative' conference here.

She, however, said her son Rahul or daughter Priyanka would not figure in the new set-up in the state.

Asked if she had a soft corner for Rahul and Priyanka, she said, "Yes, I do have a soft corner for Rahul and Priyanka, because they are my son and daughter."But Rahul is a Member of Parliament and he has to look after his constituency." Gandhi said Rahul would have to gain "some more experience" looking after a constituency and other organisational matters.

"Priyanka is a wife and a mother of two small children.

She is fully concentrating on her family," she added.

At a question-answer session,Gandhi assured the business community that they "need not worry" about the stability of the coalition government."If any coalition partner has any problem, we discuss it and come to agreement." She said her government was not sending interlocuters to the South to the North and to North-East"like the NDA government" did."We have no such problem.

We work together.

You need not worry," she said.

Gandhi said there has not been any major problem during the past six months of the UPA government.
