SURAT, Mar 15 (UNI) After successful road shows in many parts of the country in the run-up to the coming Lok Sabha elections, Congress president Sonia Gandhi will begin her two-day campaign trail in tribal-dominated South Gujarat region and Union Territory of Daman and Silvasa from tomorrow.
Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) general secretary Gaurang Pandya told UNI here today that preparations are in full swing for her 350-km roadshow.
He said that Gandhi will reach Khanvel in Union Territory of Dadra Nagar Haveli by helicopter at about 1400 hrs to campaign for the coming Lok Sabha elections in the state.
He said that the Congress president will interact with villagers in her 'Jansampark Abhiyan' (public relations) programme.
He said that she is scheduled to drive through Silvasa, Naroli, Bhilad, Vapi, Daman, Udhwada, Pardi, Dharampur and other villages in Valsad district and will make an overnight halt at Valsad.
On her second leg of the road show which will begin on March 17, Gandhi will visit Dungri, Halwada, Chikhli, Rankua, Pratapnagar, Vansda, Unai, Vyara, Haripura, Mandvi, Umarpada covering almost all tribal areas of South Gujarat districts of Valsad, Navsari and Surat before returning to Mumbai in a helicopter.
In the 13th Lok Sabha, Congress has only one member from Daman, while Surat, Mandvi and Valsad seats are with the BJP, and Silvasa is represented by an independent.
