SPO turned militant surrenders

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Aug 17: A Special Police Officer (SPO) turned Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militant surrendered before the police in Kishtwar district today.

Official reports said that a SPO turned militant laid down his arms before the police in Kishtwar today.

He has been identified as Nayeem Ahmed, son of Bashir Ahmed of Saroor.

He handed over one Rifle along with its magazine, spokesman said, adding that he deserted the police force earlier this year and joined the HM cadre.

He also took away his weapon when he deserted the post.

Nayeem Ahmed, however, said that he was forcibly taken by the militants and he remained in their captivity since then.
