State govt decides to set up disaster mgmt centre Sangli

Sangli, Maharashtra, June 9 (UNI): Maharashtra Rehabilitation Minister Patangrao Kadam today said the State government has decided to set up a disaster management centre in Sangli.

Kadam told reporters here that the centre will cover and monitor disaster management of Sangli, Kolhapur, Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri districts.

Ten more such centres will be set up in the State for the welfare of the people, Kadam said that the state administration is geared up to face any problem during the monsoon considering the rain-related problems in the last two years.

Minor blast at VSP; five injured VISAKHAPATNAM, June 9 (UNI): Five persons were injured following a minor blast in the steel melting shop of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant yesterday.

According to official sources, while removing refractory bricks, hot slag from a ladle fell on the floor, resulting in a blast.

Two employees of the plant and three contract workers of a private company, who suffered minor injuries, were taken to a hospital.
