BETWEEN discovering the law of gravity and writing "Principia Mathematica", British Scientist Sir Francis Newton (1642-1727) devoted two decades of his life in the small town of Cambridge, studying alchemy in a bid to convert base metals into noble metals such as gold.

But Cambridge University never deemd it fit to teach alchemy as a subject-because it is not a science.
