KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, Mar 16: Three private members' bills were introduced in the Legislative Council here today.
Congress MLC Ashok Sharma introduced a bill to amend the J&K Panchayati Raj Act 1989.
The bill reads as, "A bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act, 1989" (L.C.

It further read, "be it enacted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature in the 57th year of Republic of India as follows: Short title and commencement: this act may be called the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj (Amendment) Act 2006.
It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the government gazette.
In sub section 3 of section 45 of the Act 1989 for the words 'nominated by the government' the word 'elected' shall be substituted.
Another bill was introduced by Bhim Singh which reads as, "A bill to provide for more effective protection of the rights of women guaranteed under the constitution who are victims of violence of any kind occurring within the family and for the matters connected therewith or incidental thereto"(L.C.

Bhim also introduced one more bill which reads as, "A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978" (L.C.

It read, "be it enacted by the Jammu and Kashmir State Legislature in the 57th year of Republic of India as follows: short title and commencement: this act may be called in the Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety (Amendment) Act 2006.
It shall come into force on the date of its publication in the government gazette Insertion of section 18 A and 18 A (a) in the principal act-after section 18 of the principal act, the following shall be inserted: 18A: no under trial person in custody shall be shifted to any jail of custody outside the jurisdiction of the trial court even if PSA is invoked against him till the completion of the trial 18 A (a): The state shall forthwith refer the matter to the union of India after a foreigner (including PoK) completes his period of sentence for his immediate deportation to his home country.
