Unity efforts not yielding positive results: Shabir

KT NEWS SERVICE SRINAGAR, July 10: Shabir Ahmad Shah, president of Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) today expressed grave concern over the efforts for unity among separatists not yielding positive results.

According to a press note he was addressing a party meeting here to pay tributes to the martyrs from July 13, 1931 to 2007.

Shah viewed that disunity among separatists was causing big damage to the ongoing movement.

He said without unity taking the movement to its logical conclusion is impossible.

DFP president added that he would intensify his unity moves.

He paid tributes to the people who laid down their lives during the ongoing movement.

He added that "martyrs" did their role and now it is the responsibility of the leadership to carry forward their mission.

"We resolve to carry forward the ongoing movement to its logical conclusion," Shah said.

According to him, the wide roads, administrative reforms and economic packages can not be an alternative to "freedom".

He viewed that solution of Kashmir issue is the only guarantee for peace and development.

The DFP president alleged that some mainstream leaders were trying to befool the people by their agenda.

Geelani assails Azad's statement KT News Service SRINAGAR, July 10: Paying tributes to the martyrs of July 13, chairman of Hurriyat (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani said that the day is a historical tragedy, which teaches Kashmiris lesson about martyrdom.

He appealed people to observe complete shutdown on Friday, the July 13.

Describing chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's yesterday's statement as a result of "his mental bankruptcy", Geelani in a sarcastic way has said that those who live in glass houses must not throw stones on other's houses, and this may not be the attitude of a realistic person.

Geelani in a statement said that, what is happening in Pakistan may not be delightful situation for any visionary people; but to make the Pakistan's internal condition as an "excuse to advocate the military occupation of Kashmir" is not justifiable.

He added that this way CM is killing the right of people's right to self determination and is making fun of the ground realities, history and the democracy.

Taking dig at Azad, Geelani said that the present chief minister is ruling Kashmiris with the might of security forces and police not through the public support.

"Terming Kashmiris freedom struggle as a way leading to ignorance is to befool the people and Azad sahib is doing that unsuccessfully," Geelani said.
