Jammu Kashmir Police bags 5 medals KT NEWS SERVICE Jammu and Kashmir Police dominated the second day play by winning five medals in the ongoing VIII.
All India Police Water Sports championship, organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police under the aegis of the All India Police Sports Control Board at Dal Lake in Srinagar.
Zahoor Ahmed of Jammu and Kashmir won first gold in the 500 mtrs Kayaking-1 event followed by Rohit Kumar of Border Security Force (BSF) and Ashok Malik of CRPF.
The fifth and sixth place were swept by Nardev Singh of Punjab and M Rajesh of Andhra Pradesh.
In the Canoeing-1, 500 mtrs event Adil Mohi-u-Din of Jammu and Kashmir Police, G Suresh of Andhra Pradesh stood second and Arun Kumar of Border Security Force (BSF) claimed third place.
Santosh Kumar Mohanty (Orrissa), Karan Singh (CRPF) and M Munda (Andaman and Nicobar) remained fourth, fifth and sixth positions in this event.
Hosts team took the medal tally to three when Zahoor Ahmed and Parviz Ahmed have got the second place in Kayaking-23 500 mtrs event.
The first position was bagged by Rohit Kumar and Kuldeep Rawal of Border Security Force.
Andhra Pradesh's P Krishana Raod and M Rajesh secured thrid place.
Punjab, Orissa and CRPF got the rest of three positions respectively.
However, Altaf Ahmed and Adil-Mohi-u-Din of the hosts state missed the chance by narrow margin to win bronze medal in the Canoeing-II, 500 mtrs event L Kubir Singh and O Shankar Singh of Manipur got gold.
The bronze medal was claimed by Arun Kumar and Deobpam Shome of Border Security Force.
Uttarkhand and Andhra Pradesh state police have got the fifth and sixth positions respectively, Jammu and Kashmir Police, again proved their supremacy in Kayaking-IV, 500 Mtrs, evetn Zahoor Ahmed, Parvaiz Ahmed, Asin Hussain and Feroz Ahmed were the players who took team to top osition, Kuldip Rawal, Rohit Kumar, Vinod Singh and Surinder Beniwal of Border Security Force remained scond, Madhya Pradesh (Yasir Hasib Khan, Ganga Ram, Jatinder Kewat and Jewan Rokde) finished third.
Andhra Pradesh, Orissa and Uttrakhand have claimed fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.
Manipur's A Kiran Kumar Singh, L Ashok Kumar Singh, H Pritam Singh and N Ophesh Singh finished top in the Canoeing-4, 500 Mtrs Reyaz Ahmed, Adul-Mohi-u-Din, Ghulam Hassan and Imtiayaz from Jammu and Kashmir Police got silver medal.
The bronze was secured by Arunh Kumar, Debopam Shome, Sumesh P and Sanjay Sharma of Border Security Force, Andhra Pradesh, SSB and Uttrakhand remained fourth, fifth and sixth positions respectively.
Umar Farooq, General Secretary, J&K Canoeing and Kayaking Asociation was the chief guest on the occasion and presented medals to the winners and runners up team.
Those were present including DIG Armed Roauf-ul-Hassan, DIG IRP TPhunsung, Principal PTs Manigam, SP MS Pannu, Commandnat JKAP 11th Security AR Bhat and others.
