KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 23: Army apprehended two suspects from Gangyal area when they were noticed moving near army residential quarters under suspicious circumstances in the wee hours today.
Official sources disclosed their identity as Hussain Ali and Mohammad Hussain both residents of Hari Surankot.
Sources claimed that they were noticed moving near army residential quarters under suspicious circumstances at 2.30 AM in the wee hours today.
A local resident noticed the movement of three persons in the area at 2.30 AM.
He rushed to the 89 Armed Regiment post nearby and informed the army about the movement of three persons with carry bags on their shoulder.
He informed that they were chatting about collection of some 'cargo'.
The troops immediately swung into action and arrested two suspects while third managed to escape taking advantage of darkness.
After questioning, Army handed over the suspects to police for their further interrogation.
Sources said that nothing incriminate was recovered from their bags but the reason of their movement near army residential quarters was not yet ascertained.
Signal Officer-in-Chief Corps of Signal visits Udhampur garrison KT NEWS SERVICE UDHAMPUR, July 23: Lt General SP Sree Kumar, Signal Officer-in-Chief and senior Colonel Commandant of Corps of Signals visited Udhampur garrison on Jul 19, 2008.

The General Officer held at Sainik Sammelan, inaugurated a state of the art 304 line hybrid exchange at Garhi and had a meeting with Lt.
Genral Pardeep Khanns VSM, ADC, Chief of Staff, Northern Comnand.
During the Sainik Sammelan, the General Officer lauded the untiring efforts, devotion and professional competence, displayed by Northern Command Signalers in thier approach and day to day work.
He urged them to continue to work fo the growth of communication networks by absorbing state of the art technologies.
He also conveyed his deep appreciation to Major General MK Gupta, Chief Signal Officer, Northern Command for his contribution in planning and provisioning of reliable communication and Electronic Warfare support to the Northern Command and for providing a happy and a growth oriented environment to units.
During the inauguration of 304 Line exchange at Garhi, General Kumar expressed his appreciation of the new concept of utilisation of spare capacity of station exchanges in case of failure of main exchange.
He also expressed his happines over the Command telephone directory information being made available to the operator of the exchange to facility him to locate the number of called subscribers by number, by appointment, unit name and so on.
On his farewell visit, the SO-in-C complimented all officers for bringing pride to the corps of Signals and asked all ranks to strive hard for more and more achievements so as to contribute to the glory of the Corps.
Horticulture Technology Mission prog progress reviewed KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 23: J.L.Sharma, Director Horticulture, Jammu reviewed the progress of implementation of Horticulture Technology Mission Programme and other Developmental Schemes under operation in Kathua district in a meeting with all the district Block level Officers today at Horticulture complex, Kathua.
Director Horticulture took stock of progress made under current rainy season Plantation Programme in the Qistrict and P J.L.Raina, Chief Horticulture Officer, Kathua informed that 312 hectare being taken under fruit plantation in all the four blocks viz.
Billawar, Basohli, Machedi and Bani under Technology mission and District Plan Programme during current year.
The fruit plantation in sub-tropical areas of Billawar, Basohli and Machedi is being under taken during current rainy season.
He briefed the Director Horticulture that area in all Horticulture zones where rainy season plantation is to be taken up has already been identified, layout given and pit digging has been completed.
Director Horticulture stressed upon the field officers to complete the plantation work within fortnight positively for the better results.
Director Horticulture impressed upon all the officers to work with sincerity, punctuality, hard work and dedication and gear-up their field functionaries to make sure that benefit of all the development schemes must reach to common orchar district farmer.
Officers were informed in the meeting that hence forth incentives on account of pit digging shall be paid to beneficiaries through payees account cheques.
J.L.Sharma also laid stress upon the Chief Horticulture officer Kathua to organize farmer’s wareness camps seminars in every nook and corner of the District to educate the farmers regarding various schemes programmes of the department so that maximum number of farmers fruit growers are benefitted.
Entrepreneurship development programme for women inaugurated KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 23: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises formerly Small Industries Service Institute, in asscciation with Government Polytechnic for Woinen, Jammu, organized a month-long Entrepreneurship Development Programme in the area of “Empowerment of Women through enterprise Development” here today.
The programme was inaugurated by Director, MSME Development Institute, SK Sahu.
In his inangural address, S.K.
Sahu empahsized upon unemployed women diploma holders to identifiy projects and set up them and tiny industries having potential in the area of their specification.
In his key note address, Principal Government Polytechnic Women, Jammu NH Malik advised the technically trained participants to identify mirco and small units of their technical trades for which project profiles have been prepared by the MSME, J&K, Jammu Malik appreciated the role of MSME DI, J&K, Jammu for taking initiate in organizing such programme for the benefit of unemployed youth.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Deputy Director, MSME Development Institute, I.J.Khushu briefed the participants about the aims and objectives of this month-long, programme.
He assured the participants that the institute would extend all possible help to the beneficiaries for establishing their own self-employment ventures.
During the month-long training programme, experts frorr MSME and other resource persons from Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Financial Institutions, KVtB, NABARD, etc.
will be invited to spell out their policies and incentives for the development of micro, small and tiny industries.
