NEW DELHI, Oct 8 (UNI): Four tenants in the flat of a Member of Parliament, moving under suspicious circumstances near the Pandara Park residence of home minister LK Advani this morning, were today detained by the Delhi Police, a senior police official said tonight.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Mukesh Kumar Meena said they are still under detention and they are being interrogated about their motive in taking on rent a house close to Mr Advanis residence and loitering around it.
The four, identified as Arshad, Moinuddin, Nadeem and Sanu Hassan, are residents of Bijnaur in Uttar Pradesh.
They have stayed in the capital in various places in the past five years.
On Saturday, they arrived in the capital from Bijnaur and took the servant quarter in the C-1/2 Pandara Park residence of Mizoram Congress Member of Parliament Hiphei.
The police first detained Arshad and Moinuddin, who were moving around Mr Advanis residence, and later also took Nadeem and Sanu into custody.
Their purpose of stay in Delhi is being ascertained.
Sources said that during the preliminary questioning, the two apparently told the police that they wanted to take a house on rent in the Pandara road area, close to the home ministers residence, but refused to elaborate.
