Indo-Pak Punjab Games Torch to leave for Patiala

CHANDIGARH, Dec 4 (UNI): The Torch of the inaugural Indo-Pak Punjab Games, which arrived here yesterday from Jalandhar, will continue its journey to Patiala, the former princely state, today as the games begin tomorrow.

The torch was received by legendary "Flying Sikh" Milkha Singh from wrestler Mohd Bashir Bholla at the Wagah Border in Amritsar on December 2 amidst huge welcome by the crowd.

It travelled from Markfed Shooting Range in Mohali, near here, to Sector 17, Chandigarh, and then to the Punjab Chief Minister's residence before reaching the Raj Bhawan in the evening.

The torch was handed over to Punjab Governor, Gen S F Rodrigues(retd) by Olympian shooter Abhinav Bindra.

Among those present on the occasion were Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Sodhi, Olympian Gurbir Singh Sandhu, Olympian Tarlochan Singh Bawa and Punjab Olympic Association Secretary General Raja K Sidhu.
