Jawan injured in accident

KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 16: An army jawan on Road Opening Party (ROP) duty was injured after being hit by a TATA Sumo vehicle at Seri, 152 Kilometers away from here on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway this morning.

Defence spokesman here said that a jawan on ROP Duty at Seri Ramban was injured when a rashly driven TATA Sumo vehicle hit him this morning at 11.50 AM.

The driver of TATA Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK01A-7059 which was on its way from Jammu to Srinagar lost control over the vehicle due to negligent driving and it hit the jawan standing on the side of NH-1A resulting in severe head injury to him.

The injured jawan identified as Naik Raj Kishore Sharma of 402 LT AAD was evacuated to the Army hospital where his condition was said to be stable.

A case has been registered in Police Station Ramban in this connection.

Woman succumbs to burns KT NEWS SERVICE JAMMU, July 16: A Border Security Force (BSF) jawan's wife succumbed to her burns at the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital here today.

The deceased has been identified as Sunila Devi, 38, wife of Riki Ram of Haryana at present Suraksha Vihar Paloura.

Police reports said that a BSF jawan's wife sustained burns at her residential quarters in Suraksha Vihar colony Paloura on Saturday.

She was shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital for treatment the same day.

Her condition continued to deteriorate and she succumbed to her burns today.

The body after autopsy was handed over to the family members for last rites.

Police has initiated inquest proceedings under section 174 crpc.
