Jr Jump Rope National Championship in Goa from Oct 11

PANAJI, Oct 8 (UNI): Rope Skipping Association of Goa (RSAG) will organise the three-day 6th Junior Jump Rope National Championship for boys and girls from October 11 at Porvorim.

Speaking to mediapersons, RSAG president Rajkumar Desai said here today 19 teams from 18 states are expected to participate in the championship.

He added that participating teams will be under- 14, 16, 18 boys and girls.

So far, 375 participants have been confirmed from different states.

Hosts Goa will have two teams A and B, Desai stated.

RSAG general secretary Kirti Sawaikar said,"Jumping a rope or skipping is considered to build up the stamina as well as to maintain weight of the body.

It is a basic exercise used as warm up activity before playing any game but now jumping a rope is not a warm up activity but it is developing as a sport." There are events in jump Rope, individual and team events like speed, double unders, triple unders, double Dutch, Freestyle and Team Relay.

The championship will be inaguarated by former Minister Dayanand Narvekar, while closing ceremony will be attended by Jump Rope Federation of India President Bhupender Singh Bajwa.
