Jugal Kishore Sharma today said that the coalition Government is fully committed to connect the habitations with roads to transform the socio-economic status of the people of under-developed pockets by translating the Bharat Nirman Scheme into reality in our State with the launch of new road projects in the State.
The Minister was addressing a public meetings at village Muttal and Jangalgali in district Udhampur while inaugurating a newly constructed Muttal-Jangalgali-Kund road measuring 7.9 KM in length under Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) with an estimated expenditure of Rs.324.80 lakh.
The work on first 2 KM of the project was completed by the PWD Agency while from April 1, 2007, the work on rest of 5.9 KM road length has been taken up by the PMGSY Agency which was likely to be completed by the end of August, this year.
The road also includes construction of a 20-meter span steel bridge at Jangalgali.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that with the opening of this road, the vast hilly habitations scattered along the roadside would be benefited a lot.
This road has also paved the way for the people of this remote terrain to initiate new economic activities besides facilitating the patients to reach urban areas for getting special treatment without wasting any time.
The Minister called upon the people to be aware of nefarious designs of vested interests who spread false rumours and make false promises with the innocent people for their petty interests.
He was optimistic that people are now wise enough and can judge judiciously about the performance of leaders of different political affiliations.
The Minister also called upon the officers and engineers in particular to work with dedication in getting the projects completed in time with no compromise on quality of works.
