NEW DELHI, March 1 (Agencies): Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu has described Congress and BJP as "regional parties", saying that now they do not have an all India presence.
"It is very clear now that both national parties have become regional parties.
They are concentrated only in certain parts of the country," Naidu said in an interview.
Naidu said both Congress and BJP do not cover the country's canvass and they together could not get more than 50 per cent seats in Parliament.
"Both the parties put together will not exceed 50 percent seats," he said.
The TDP chief said formation of a coalition government again at the Centre, where the regional parties would have prominent roles, was imminent.
"It is a coalition era.
In coalition era, regional parties are going to a play major role," he said.
Asked about his future role in the national politics, the two-time Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said he was more interested in state politics and would be happy to work for a national alliance of non-Congress and non-BJP parties.
"I don't have any ambition.
Never an aspirant," he said when asked whether he was aspiring for the Prime Minister's post.
