Railway concession for job aspirants comes into effect

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Oct 16 (UNI): The concession for unemployed youth travelling for job interviews, announced by Railway Minister Lalu Prasad in this year's rail budget, had come into effect since last month.

The 50 per cent concession on second/sleeper express fare could be availed of by any unemployed youth up to the age of 35 years, travelling to attend interviews for job in public sector organisations, Central/State government offices, a Statutory Body, a Municipal Corporation, a Government undertaking or a University, a Southern Railway release here said today.

The candidate would not be eligible for concession if the travelling expenses in part or in full was borne by the organisation concerned.

Youth travelling to appear in an interview for central government jobs might get full concession in basic express fare in only second class.

The validity of return tickets would be ten days from the date of onward journey.
