Shekhawat to undergo surgery in leg tomorrow

NEW DELHI, June 19 (UNI) Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat will undergo surgery in his right leg at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here tomorrow.

Sources in the Vice-President's residence said he was today admitted to the AIIMS.

"The details of the surgery would be finalised after investigation." Sources said Shekhawat had been suffering from pain in his leg for quite some time now.

Trapped miners remain untraced RANCHI, June 19 (UNI) A team of Navy divers which entered the central inundated Sandeadeih mine at Bhurkunda in Hazaribagh district, in search of 14 trapped miners has failed to trace them.

The team is expected to make another attempt today.

Hazaribagh District Commissioner Rahul Kumar Purwar said the miners remained untraced.

Though round-the-clock water is being pumped out, yet a large amount of water still remains.

The defence ministry had sent a nine-member divers team to assist the authority, on a request, for rescuing the miners.
