Two killed in Army operations, camps destroyed

IMPHAL, June 20 (UNI) The Army killed two suspected militants and recovered two AK-47 rifles from them during an operation at Churachandpur district of Manipur.

Operations by the army have intensified in the interior areas of the state and another major offensive was launched at the Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur.

The Red Shield division of the Army managed to reach Henglep on June 18, in spite of attacks by militants, defence sources said today.

The bodies of the two suspected militants found during the operation with the ar, were handed over to the Loktak police station, sources said.

The troops also destroyed a number of hideouts and IEDS at Henglep, which for the last six years has been a stronghold for insurgent activities.

General officer commanding of the 57 Mountain Division, Red Shield Division, D D Dwivedi and Churachandpur Army Brigade commander R K Sharma visited Henglep on June 18 and interacted with the people assuring them of their cooperation.
